Behind the Scenes: Chance McKinney “Backyard”

Rising country artist Chance McKinney’s music video for his latest single, “Backyard” dropped earlier this month, chocked full of feel-good, summertime vibes. The single is already making waves as it recently hit country radio and is racking up Spotify streams since it’s the perfect track for your summertime playlist.

We are proud to premiere the behind the scenes video for “Backyard,” including exclusive scenes and inspiration behind the song. Check out the video plus more from Chance on the video shoot below!

Got Country: How was it to shoot the music video for “Backyard”? It looks like the cast and crew had a lot of fun.

Chance McKinney: It was a blast! We played corn hole, ate, drank, threw the ball around, sang by the fire and might’ve even danced a little. And apparently, someone was there taking pictures and shooting video while we did it. Crazy how that happens.

Got Country: How did you come up with the vision for the video?

Chance McKinney: The vision for the video came from our first listening of “Backyard.” I was in the room with some trusted ears when the song came on and everyone just started groovin’ on it. The girls in the room said, “this is a perfect date song,” and the guys said, “a classic summer backyard party song.” The more I thought about it, the more it made sense to build the video the way everyone was taking it in.

Got Country: What was your favorite memory from the video shoot?

Chance McKinney: There were actually too many to count. There were several times we had to stop shooting because everyone was laughing so hard. Playing catch with Mitch, one half of the lead couple, wasn’t supposed to be in the video, but it was a favorite moment for me. I hope everyone enjoys… I know we did.
