Bonnie Raitt To Headline Upcoming Olivia Travel Thanksgiving Caribbean Cruise

Olivia Travel, the world’s largest travel company offering chartered cruise, resort, adventure and luxury vacations specifically for the lesbian community, has announced Grammy award-winning artist, Bonnie Raitt, will headline the group’s upcoming Thanksgiving Caribbean Cruise, scheduled to take place November 23-30, 2014 on Holland America’s 1300 passenger ms Ryndam. Raitt will join other recognized entertainers such as independent recording artist Cris Williamson, comedians Suzanne Westenhoefer and Poppy Champlin, classically trained chef Josie Smith-Malave, and Sweet Cheeks owner and executive chef Tiffani Faison.

“Olivia’s life-changing, life-saving musical history has always been deeply important to me, as it has to so many. I’m pleased to be a part of Olivia Travels kick-off concert for their Thanksgiving Caribbean Cruise,” said Raitt.

The “life-saving musical history” Raitt refers to reflects back to the core of Olivia Travel and the roots of founder Judy Dlugacz. In 1973, Dlugacz founded Olivia, a San Francisco-based independent women’s record label where she produced over 40 albums and sold more than one million records for artists such as Meg Christian, Teresa Trull and Cris Williamson.

“It’s always been about music, family and making a difference,” said Williamson. “These things came together for me all those years ago when Olivia was born. I am thankful to still play a part in it all and happy to share the upcoming cruise with my good friend, Bonnie Raitt.”

Following Raitt’s official concert sendoff in Tampa, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy snorkeling in Cozumel, Mexico, visit the walled city of ancient Tulum, as well as spending a day diving or fishing near the magical coral reefs that surround the island of Roatan, Honduras. In Guatemala, there are sparkling waterfalls, freshwater pools in San Gill Hill Natural Reserve and an old Mayan city at Quirigua National Park. There is plenty of unspoiled paradise to discover in Costa Maya, Mexico, along with Mayan ruins, sandy beaches and fresh seafood to nosh on. Celebrity chefs, Josie Smith- Malave and Tiffani Faison will also be on board hosting cooking demonstrations for everyone to enjoy.

“Our Thanksgiving Caribbean Cruise is a perfect example of what we do best: bring together the greatest entertainment, like Bonnie and Cris, and combine that with simply breathtaking vacation destinations. Our goal is to help our guests create some of the best memories, both on and off the ship,” said Dlugacz.
