Chase Rice Talks Life and Snagajob Contest

There is no denying the past year has been good to country star Chase Rice. He etched his name in history as a cowriter on “Cruise“, the most digitally downloaded song of all time. Recently his own song, “Ready Set Roll” (written with friends Rhett Atkins and Chris DeStefano) was certified gold. He is less than a month away from dropping his studio album, Ignite the Night, which will be released on his late fathers birthday in August. Now Chase is giving back. By teaming up with Snagajob he is giving one deserving musician a chance to open for him at a September show in Denver. Got Country Online was able to speak with Chase this week about the contest and life in general.

GCO: What can we expect from your upcoming album “Ignite the Night” ?

CR: We are releasing this album with the first single already gold. That feels pretty good. The album will mimic my live show for the most part. There are a lot of party songs but there are a couple really meaningful songs like “Carolina Can” on the album too.

GCO: What has been the biggest honor for you to date?

CR: Playing the Opry was unbelievable. Im not sure standing on the same stage as people like Johnny Cash and George Strait could ever be topped.

GCO: Where were you the first time you heard yourself on the radio?

CR: I honestly can’t remember. It happened really slowly for me. My song was featured on Sirus XM before it dropped to radio.

GCO: What is something your fans may not know about you?

CR: I have the impression everyone thinks I party all the time. They think Im throwing back shots and raging at every moment. Truth is when I get down time I just like to be home relaxing.

GCO: Talk about the contest with Snagajob. Are there any details you can give us? How did you get involved?

CR: I wanted to do this because Dierks Bentley and few others did this for me. They are asked to submit a video of an original song. I will help judge as we narrow the entries to the top 5. Then the fans will choose from the top 5 who will get to open for me in Denver later this year. Hopefully it will give someone a chance to break into the music scene and see what its like to play a live show.
