CONCERT REVIEW: Luke Bryan At Summerfest In Milwaukee, WI

I wasn’t at all surprised when Summerfest decided to bring Luke Bryan back this year to perform at the Marcus Amphitheatre at Henry Maier Festival Park after his Dirt Road Diaries Tour last year at the venue which was an amazing performance. I have been so blessed to have seen Luke Bryan perform many different times over the course of his career, seeing him go from the opening act to the headlining act and taking home the 2013 ACM Entertainer of the year, and reign as Billboard’s top country artist.

I’m so proud to have seen his career explode into the crazy but, awesome madness it is now. I’m so happy That’s My Kinda Night Tour came to Milwaukee because it was quite an amazing show. Luke opened the show with “That’s My Kinda Night” which couldn’t have been more perfect for us Wisconsinites. The weather had finally turned itself around and summer was in full swing, and I don’t know a better place to want to spend your night than at a country concert, and at a Luke Bryan one nonetheless.

From the flames spewing out from the stage to the incredible burst of energy at the beginning of the show, it had people on their feet and ready to have a good time. I’ll say it again, it was completely perfect. The follow up to “That’s My Kinda Night,” was none other than “Rain Is A Good Thing.” Although rain may be a good thing because it makes your baby “feel a little frisky”, I’m glad it held off for this show because we had all seen enough rain to last us for a while already this summer, it gave us pure enjoyment to have a perfect night. Luke followed up those two songs with “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” and “All My Friends Say.” Amongst the other songs chosen for the set was his new single, “Roller Coaster,” which is undeniably one of my most favorite songs off of Crash My Party. That was the song off of the album I fell in love with, after the title track of course.

One of my most favorite parts of the whole show was when Luke sat down at the piano, he gave us a treat by singing us his first number one, “Do I,” but also by mixing it up a little and throwing in a little Garth Brooks,Much to Young (To Feel This Damn Old),” Bryan Adams, “Summer Of 69,” and one of my very favorite songs by none other than Mr. Lionel Richie, “Easy.” We all know Luke is also known for wearing a pair of jeans well and pulling off that ball cap like no other, there was no doubt in my mind that somewhere in the show he was going to tease us with his incredible moves. Indeed, he did tease, by turning himself around and playing the piano keys with his back end. The girls went wild of course. He’s such a tease, you have to love the connection he has with his fans, giving them a little taste of his incredible country boy charm throughout the set.

Hands down my favorite moment of the show was when Luke’s screens on set took us to another place and time, a place of reflection after getting some bad news, on the edge of a pier. During “Drink A Beer,” Luke sat on the stage prop, a pier, and gave an incredible performance of a song that has so much emotion and meaning behind it. Absolutely incredible, there are no words.

Just when we thought those might be the only surprises in store, Luke’s good friends of Florida Georgia Line showed up for “This Is How We Roll.” As if the crowd wasn’t going wild enough already, this proved to be one of the best moments of the whole show, you saw the crowd burst into even more glorious happiness with the sight of Brian and Tyler. And, if just Luke shaking it wasn’t enough for the ladies on “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” the boys of Florida Georgia Line joined Luke again onstage to shake theirs also, and I must say, those boys got moves! Luke even threw in a little Taio Cruz, “Dynamite,” to keep the crowd going.

Luke Bryan never ceases to amaze me. And no, it’s not ALL because of the tight jeans shaking. To be completely honest with you, I am never disappointed at any show I go to of his. Luke’s music has always been crazy catchy and addictive, he also has that something about him that draws you in, that Georgia country boy charm mixed with a whole lot of talent. Ladies, it’s just a bonus that he can really rock a pair of tight blue jeans, t-shirt, and a baseball cap. Oh, and those moves. Let’s not forget about those moves. Boys got it.
