CONCERT REVIEW: Maddie and Tae “Start Here” Tour At The Highline Ballroom

The already successful and extremely talented country duo Maddie and Tae are embarking on their first headlining tour, and we got to see them kick things off at Highline Ballroom in New York City.

In an intimate theater, with a dedicated crowd, Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye left no corner of the stage untouched, and no one person left out, making a connection with all of us.

They fired off tracks from their brand new album “Start Here”, each one with a heightened harmony. “You’re Side of Town”, “Shut Up and Fish”, and “Takin It Easy” brought the energy, while “Boomerang” brought the sass. They took a moment to slow things down with an undeniable favorite, Justin Timberlake’s “Mirror” and then their current hit single, “Fly”.

Maddie and Tae’s set list flowed with perfection, each song with a story, and each cover leading into one of their own. Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide”, and the lyric “Even children get older, I’m getting older too”, paved the path for “Downside of Growing Up”. A song about the struggles, the memories, and lessons you will learn throughout the next chapter of your life.

As Maddie and Tae were giving us a stellar performance, they were also sending us an important message, not to let anyone knock you down from your dreams, and make you think you are not good enough. The song “Sierra” was a true story and the inspiration behind that exact message and “Girl In A Country Song” was their proof that dreams do come true.

Maddie and Tae showed us that they do not only have creativity in their music, but also on stage, giving the audience a different kind of live show experience. They perform proudly and with confidence, and as fans, they give us the opportunity to leave with that same strength. Many people, young and old, look up to these two artists and their music, and as a country duo, they are here to stay.
