EP REVIEW: Dustin Vye “Dustin Vye”

Dustin Vye, a former Canadian gymnast, has taken his passion of performing, from the mats to the stage. His self-titled EP is made up of 5 tracks all which he co-wrote, while covering the familiar topics we love to appreciate.

So Long” introduces us to the album as well as the voice. With a simple guitar strum, Vye has a moment to premiere his crisp sound, then, it is hard to keep still once the beat hits. You will quickly be tapping along to this break-up song.

Chance” takes us on a fun journey to finding the right girl while the heart-aching ballad, “Let Her Go“, slows things down.

“If she don’t love you let her go, better now, then down the road “

His words are simple yet truthful as he leads with his emotions in this piece.

The mood is quickly lifted with “Country Life” reminding us that the wide open roads and fields, may be just the right remedy for a break from the hustle.

The EP is rounded out with a soft melody and vulnerable lyrics in “Never Loved“, coming to the tough realization that he was never the one for her.

Vye’s sound is classic, containing only the elements that should be heard on a country record. His debut proves he has the skill to construct a well written country song, and that his career as an artist will only continue to grow.

His EP is currently available for download HERE via iTunes.
