Little Big Town preps for the release of the debut single “Day Drinking” off of their upcoming sixth studio album on Capitol Records Nashville. The record will be available for download June 3, landing at Country Radio at 6 a.m. ET that morning and officially going for adds on June 9.
“Day Drinking,” written by Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook, Phillip Sweet and co-writers Barry Dean and Troy Verges, was produced by Jay Joyce and features Fairchild on lead vocals.
“We are so excited to finally be putting out our new single ‘Day Drinking,’” exclaimed Jimi Westbrook. “It’s the first song off of our new album which will be coming out in the fall. We wrote this with our buddies Barry Dean and Troy Verges and had such a good time writing that day that it seemed to carry over into the spirit of the song. It makes me think about those summer days when all that’s on the agenda is hanging out, relaxing, and having a good time with friends. So, if that’s your plan, here’s your song! ‘Why don’t we do a little day drinking?’”
Little Big Town returned to Watertown, TN, the location of their award-winning video for No. 1 hit “Tornado,” to film a teaser video for the new single and the forthcoming album. The video can be viewed on the bands website.
CMT recently announced Little Big Town as performers on the 2014 CMT MUSIC AWARDS airing LIVE on CMT Wednesday, June 4 at 8 p.m. ET. This will be the television debut performance of “Day Drinking.” The foursome is also nominated for Group Video of the Year for “Your Side of the Bed” at the telecast.
