Parmalee was recently announced as a 2014 semi-finalist for the Academy of Country Music’s coveted New Artist of the Year category. Beginning today (Jan. 21) at noon ET, Parmalee fans have the opportunity to propel the country foursome into one of the top three semi-finalist positions by voting daily through Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 3:00 pm ET (http://www.voteacm.com). The final three nominees will then go on to compete in a second round of voting to win the New Artist of the Year award at the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
“After closing 2013 with a multi-week #1 single and a debut album release, it is so amazing to begin the new year as ACM New Artist of the Year semi-finalists!” says Matt Thomas, lead singer for Parmalee. “We feel at any moment we are going to wake up from this dream, but it’s our reality, and it just keeps getting better. The year 2014 brings more exciting news from the North Carolina chart-toppers, as they announce their highly anticipated next single, “Close Your Eyes,” from their critically acclaimed debut album, FEELS LIKE CAROLINA. “Close Your Eyes,” written by esteemed Music Row songwriters Adam Craig, Trent Tomlinson and Shane Minor, is set to impact country radio on Monday, Feb. 3 and serves as the follow-up single to Parmalee’s multi-week #1 smash hit, “Carolina.”
Taste of Country is offering fans a behind-the-scenes look into Parmalee’s personal story behind “Close Your Eyes”by featuring exclusive video footage from an intimate in-studio performance of the single, shot by Nashville-based video producer Reid Long. Long’s extensive list of A-list clientele includes The Black Keys, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, Peter Frampton, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lionel Richie, to name a few.
