Rolling Stone Launches First Ever Country Issue And A Nashville Event On June 3rd

Rolling Stone announced today the official launch of Rolling Stone Country, their first site dedicated to country music. Rolling Stone Country brings its signature reporting and unique voice to tell the story of everything country – from artist interviews to news to exclusive video and song premieres. In April 2014, Rolling Stone officially opened its first office in Nashville.

Gus Wenner, Director of RollingStone.com, will oversee editorial and business operations for Rolling Stone Country. To build Rolling Stone Country’s Nashville-based team, Wenner looked to country music veterans Beville Dunkerley and Joseph Hudak, both acting as Senior Editors for the site. Dunkerley joined Rolling Stone Country in March 2014 after working in various capacities for AOL Music, including as a writer, editor, host and on-air personality. Notably, Dunkerley co-founded AOL’s The Boot, which became the number one country music site on the internet in less than a year. Hudak came on board in April 2014, and most recently served as Managing Editor of Country Weekly. Hudak also held several editorial roles at TV Guide.

“We’re starting Rolling Stone Country out of a deep love for the music,” says Gus Wenner, Director of RollingStone.com. “Country music has always been part of Rolling Stone’s DNA. It is a huge force in popular culture right now, which means it’s the perfect time to focus Rolling Stone’s expert storytelling and reporting on this genre.”

To commemorate the launch of Rolling Stone Country, the magazine will release its first-ever Country issue, on stands June 6th. The country issue will feature interviews with some of the biggest names in country music, from artists to industry players. Readers will also be able to follow the latest updates from Rolling Stone Country via Twitter, @RScountry, and on Facebook.

Rolling Stone Country will be celebrated at a June 3rd launch event, sponsored by Patrón, at Nashville’s Peter Nappi Studio featuring a special performance by Grammy-winning artist Keith Urban. Guests will be treated to food inspired by local Nashville cuisine as well as custom blended cocktails by Patrón.
