SINGLE REVIEW: Maren Morris “My Church”

You know when you hear a song for the first time and you love it because it resonates with you just that much? Yeah, me too. That’s where new artist Maren Morris comes in with her new single, “My Church”. Everyone likes to have something to cling to, something they understand. For some that is a religion, for some it might be a place, but as Maren sings in this song for some it’s the sounds that come out of our radio airwaves as we’re driving on an open free road.

“When this wonderful world gets heavy and I need to find my escape, I just keep the wheels rollin’, radio scrollin’ ‘til my sins wash away”

The chorus bursts out with, “Can I get a Hallelujah? Can I get an Amen?..” and the harmonies that accompany her on the chorus come together and you immediately feel like you’re among an actual church choir singing the praises of the music you’re listening to. Most of us have experienced the high energy that a church choir can give off as they sing a song that means so much, and Maren does no less than that when she sings these words.

This song is sure to be a hit single, and hopefully she releases more like it. She has an original sound about her that highlights her powerful voice and helps her stand out from the other female artists trying to stake their place. If she keeps making hits such as this first single, I think she’ll be good from here on out.
