Cale Dodds has released the first song from his upcoming EP Current Nostalgia. The debut single, “Still Single,” sets the bar high for this slate of new songs. It’s a laid back conversational tune that follow what he would say to his ex if he ran into her. The big question is, you guessed it, if she’s still single…
While he wants to know if she’s still single, we learn the reasons why he is still single which is what makes this song special. “…I’m still single cause I know how good that it can be / still think there might be something left of you and me / still giving all my nights to all your memories / you’re the reason why…” He tells her she set the bar too high & that for the rest of his life he’ll always want to know if he’s the reason why she’s still single. It’s reflective and hopeful. The production is so well done. The music doesn’t compete with Dodds’ vocals & it’s one that you can listen to over and over again without tiring of it.
Luckily for Dodds, life doesn’t imitate art in this instance. The next few months are big for the Columbus, Georgia native as he not only plans to release his new EP, but he will also soon be marrying his long-time girlfriend Candace Rosenkranz.
