Jo Dee Messina Hits The Road To Support Fifth Studio Album “Me”

Jo Dee Messina, known for her electrifying live performances and powerhouse vocals, is at it again with her latest single “A Woman’s Rant” currently impacting radio and in the Top 25 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart and Top 40 on the Billboard Indicator Chart. The single, from her fifth studio album ME which was released to critical praise at the end of March on her newly formed label Dreambound Records, is an up-tempo song written by Messina about the ups and downs of a hectic life and a celebration of all that extraordinary women do. Jo Dee, who recently sang the National Anthem at the 140th Kentucky Derby live on NBC, is set to hit the road this Summer to perform shows across the country in support of ME.

“The whole process of creating and releasing this album and especially the single “A Woman’s Rant” has been so cathartic for me,” said Jo Dee. “The adventure of making an album by utilizing social platforms has been very exciting. This album was truly made by the fans and for the fans so I am thankful that it’s been getting such a positive response!”

The feisty new single “A Woman’s Rant” hones in on the trials and tribulations of being a working woman and all the responsibilities that come along with that. With lyrics like “Everybody’s needs are my responsibility, sure be nice to have someone takin’ care of me. Women they do twice the work and then get half the pay. Men they climb the ladder while the women pave the way.” It is easy to understand why this single has become an anthem for women who relate to every lyric. The song celebrates all the extraordinary women out there and everything they do on a daily basis.

ME is truly a journey for Jo Dee Messina having parted ways with her record label in 2012 she took her career into her own hands and launched a campaign to make this album for the fans, with the fans. The result is nothing short of Messina at her finest and is being dubbed by the critics and fans alike as her best album to date. The album is an alluring mix of up-tempo songs like “Not Dead Yet,” a sassy declaration to all the naysayers in her career that she isn’t even close to finished with what she started, “Like A Kid Again,” a song that many fans can relate to about trading all the real life trials and tribulations in to be carefree like a kid again, and “I’m Free,” about breaking free from the restraints of what people think you are capable of and being free to live outside the box and soar, be ME. To truly moving heartfelt tunes like the title track “Me,” about being everything to everyone and hoping at the end of the day it is enough, and the ballad “Say Goodbye to Superman,” that explores having to explain to a child why they are now a broken family and the heartache that would come along with that.

Messina co-wrote seven of the twelve songs on ME and co-produced the album with Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Julian King (George Strait, Faith Hill, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson) in LOUD studios in Nashville. Some of Nashville’s finest songwriters are represented on ME including Brett James (Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean), Clay Mills (Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Trisha Yearwood), Keith Follesé (Martina McBride, Randy Travis, Faith Hill), Dean Sams from Lonestar, and Patricia Conroy (Steel Magnolia, Emerson Drive). Every note on Me explores Messina as a woman, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend and an incredibly gifted vocalist and songwriter who is thankful for all she’s accomplished and looking forward to all that awaits her.
