Mary English “Bright Light” EP Review

Nashville newcomer Mary English just released her debut EP Bright Light, and it is jam packed with all the emotions of a well rounded country record.

“Boy Crazy” simply just makes you want to smile. English’s voice is animated and energetic as she brings this love stricken song to life.

A heavier beat kicks off “Kiss Me or Miss Me”, along with an ultimatum. It is now or never and the games are over. The mood shifts with hints of vulnerability, and we follow along as her voice transitions into each emotion with perfection.

Got my high heels on and that dress you like,

Now change your plans and come out tonight,

I’d be lying if I didn’t say, I wish you were here with me

The mood is lifted once again with “More to You”, and “Bright Light” reminds us to always be reaching for the stars.

Throughout this 4 track EP, we get a little bit of everything. From the heartache to the hopeless romantic, to letting your own light shine for the world to see, Mary English has proven herself to be a mature artist, and a true role model for country fans both young and old.

There was no specific event that made me fall in love with country music, it was simply the style that hit me the hardest. I’ve been involved with music from a young age and it has helped get to where I am today. I graduated Albright College with a degree in Music Business and currently work in New York City with Music Licensing. When I’m not working with music, you can find me listening to it, watching it, or playing it. I consider myself lucky when I look back at the various concerts I’ve attended, from classics such as Brooks & Dunn and George Strait, to the incredible new talents of Eric Church and The Band Perry. It only makes me want more. Music is something I can always count on and I’m excited to have the opportunity to share this love with all of you!
