Clark Hill “People Like Me” Album Review

Florida native Clark Hill is set to release his debut record, “People Like Me”, which will include is current radio single, “Perfect To Me”. Now, 2 years in the making and 13 tracks later, we get to indulge in a full length country record.

Hill kicks things off with “We Were That Song”, It’s uplifting and relatable, and if you ever once made a memory to a song, this will surely take you back. Listen carefully, your song may just be one that is cleverly intertwined throughout this piece.

“Rolling Home” is sung with conviction and his voice is confident.

 Girl I keep rolling home,

Like an old Rolling stone, loving on and on and on….

Sure as that red sun sets,

no matter how bad it gets,

girl I got no regrets, when I’m rolling home to you.

Pecan Pie” is a true testament to southern life. It has the charm of a good old classic country song with lyrics that will just make you feel good.

The record continues on with heartache in “I Don’t Know How To Love You Anymore” and “Always Be Mine”, to the beautiful rendition of “How Great Thou Art”, where the soft piano and Hill’s harmonies are the only thing this song needs.

“Midnight Saturday Night” is an anthem to staying young, and “Those Were the Days” is a tribute to the simpler times, and by far the most powerful track on this record.

There’s a small little town, on this side of heaven,

where the sweetest kind of strawberries grow,

there are roads layed with bricks, by the hands of the fathers,

of those men we lost long ago.

Clark Hill’s story telling shines in “Those Were The Days”, and throughout this entire record. He pairs emotion and lyrics with perfection and leaves an impact on all those who listen.

Hill has surely made his mark in the country world with this album, and now he will be taking his talent out on the road. The People Like Me Tour will begin in May and on select dates, will be partnering with Animal Planet’s Tia Torres of Pit Bulls & Parolees book tour. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, and Clark Hill will make an appearance on the show later this year.
