Q&A:

Hey Johnny! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us!  How have the last few months been treating you?

Thanks for having me. I’ve been great. Just working hard on new music.

Your latest single, “Over A Girl” is a great play on words which is actually about getting a girl. How did this song come about?

I had the idea with some lines written down on my phone. I threw it out to my co-writers, Scooter Carusoe and Josh Osborne, and we took it from there. It was so great getting to write this song with them.

You also released a great music video for the song. Do you have any fun memories or behind-the-scenes secrets you could share from the shoot?

That was a really great video to get to shoot. We went out to a farm in East Tennessee. The weather ended up being overcast and rainy, but I think that made the video even better. Definitely matches the vibe of the song.

We love your last single “Got Married” which has such a specific yet universal message, is it hard to write songs that personal?

That’s actually the stuff that comes pretty easy to write for me. I love telling stories, so anything I’ve been through or experienced is where my inspiration comes from.

When writing, where does the inspiration come from and how quickly do the songs form from there?

I’m always pulling from past experiences or what I’m living at the moment. Family, friends, hometowns, anything that’s important to me usually finds its way in a song.

When it comes to releasing new music, what is your decision process behind when and what to release?

I try to go with whatever song I’m most excited about. I want every song to give fans a glimpse into who I am and also what’s going to be fun to play out on the road at live shows.

Outside of music, how have you been spending your winter?

If I’m not writing or on the road, I spend most of my time with my family at home in Tennessee.

What can fans be looking forward to next?

I’ve been writing a lot and I’m about to go back in the studio in a few months to record some new music. Really excited for people to hear this next chapter.
