KANE BROWN PENS HEARTFELT SONG, “FOR MY DAUGHTER,” FOLLOWING THE ARRIVAL OF HIS FIRST CHILD

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2019) – Multi-Platinum, 3X AMA award-winning artist Kane Brown celebrated the arrival of his first child earlier this week. Announcing the milestone via his Instagram, Brown first posted the news of daughter Kingsley Rose Brown’s arrival on Wednesday, before posting news of an additional surprise song release last night.
Co-penned by Brown, the song, “For My Daughter,” reunites the “breakthrough” (Associated Press) singer/songwriter with Tom Douglas (“Cold Spot”)-who Brown wrote with on his record-breaking #1 debut album, and Chase McGill, who celebrated his first official #1 single at country radio with Brown’s hit, “Lose It” off of Brown’s #1 Billboard 200 debuting sophomore album, Experiment. “For My Daughter” is available here: https://smarturl.it/kbformydaughter.
“I wrote this song when I found out we were officially going to become parents. I meant every word, and cannot wait to watch her grow up,” Brown shared about the song.
Known for the raw honesty in his lyrics, the “future of Country” (Billboard) has candidly detailed his upbringing in earlier hits, including the autobiographical viral song, “Learning,” off his debut album. An earlier preview of “For My Daughter” on Brown’s socials received millions of views in less than 48 hours.
“For My Daughter” Lyrics:
Someone to play catch with out back in the yardTo pick up the pieces of your first broken heartSomeone to say slow down when you turn sixteenI grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be Someone to scare the monsters, when it’s dark in your roomSomeone to put their foot down when you want a tattooNot just say I love you but show you what it meansI grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be They say dad’s are supposed to shape you and in a way I guess mine didI knew what I wouldn’t do if I ever had a kidThey say history repeats itself well I guess that’s up to meI grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be Someone to let you fall down and teach you how to get back upTeach you how to be sweet like mamma and how to be toughI’ll never be perfect but sure as those lines are pinkI grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can be (Repeat chorus) I can’t change the past but the past has sure changed meI grew up without a dad I’m gonna be the best one I can beYeah I’m gonna be a dad and I’m gonna be the best one I can be
