Premiere – Nicky James Is Reminiscing On His Glory Days On “Those Tonights”

They say hindsight is 20/20. On his new single “Those Tonights,” emerging country crooner Nicky James is challenging the listener to live in the moment. The carefree days of being young seem to creep by in the moment, but looking back they go by in a flash. James’ unique and powerful vocals deliver the lyrics ease while he passionately narrates the mid-tempo track. Written solely by James and produced by Grammy-award nominated Eric Torres (Jamey Johnson), “Those Tonights” is premiering today with Got Country.

The release of “Those Tonights” follows several standout tracks from the budding star this year including breakout track “Goin’ Through,” catchy debut “Your Name On It,” emotionally honest song “Addict’s Knot,” and timely single “Common Ground.” The Nebraska native also has music featured on Spotify’s Wild Country, Fresh Finds: Country and New Music Nashville.

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska to a musical family, breaking out the guitar was just a normal part of the daily family life. His parents raised him on the American classics, like James Taylor, John Denver, and The Eagles, and those legends have had a major impact on his songwriting style. The passion for Country music was instilled in him at a young age and he made the full-time pursuit while only in his teens. Playing anywhere and everywhere that would allow him, he learned and began crafting his musical identity. 

Frequent trips to visit family in Oklahoma led the then rising talent to fall in love with the red dirt scene. James explains: “Oklahoma was this brand-new world and I quickly fell in love with it. It seemed like the place I Imagined watching all the western movies with my dad as a kid.” He spent the next few years traveling back and forth to play the bar scene with his brother. With a strong support system, he threw himself straight into the live performance world and hasn’t looked back.
