Interview: CALLIE TWISSELMAN

Hi Callie, thanks for taking the time to chat with us!  How have the last few months been treating you? The last few months have treated me pretty good! Very busy but good! I released new music and have been out on the road touring and promoting it which has been a dream come true.

You are currently out on the road opening the exciting Cirque Musica shows.  How has this experience been for you so far?  Opening for the Cirque Musica shows has been so much fun. This is my first tour and getting to go all over the country sharing my music and meeting fans has been the best feeling.

All the traveling must be fun but also difficult, do you have a favorite and least favorite part about being on tour? There has definitely been a lot of miles put in on the road.! It’s neat getting to go places I’ve never been but the long drives can get exhausting at times. But it’s well worth it!

Has there been a favorite venue to perform at so far or do you have a dream venue you’d love to play someday?  My favorite venue so far has been the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL.  It has these beautiful chandeliers throughout, the crowd was amazing and the dressing room was the best one I’ve had yet haha!

One of the songs fans may hear you sing at the shows is “Together” which was released on Netflix’s My Little Pony: A New Generation soundtrack.  How amazing was it to learn your song had been placed on such a big platform?  When I heard my song “Together” was going to be on the My Little Pony movie it was pretty dang cool. I used to watch the shows as a kid so it was such a full-circle moment!

Did you have a favorite song from a movie soundtrack while growing up?  Has it hit you that your song may be that “one” for kids now? Yes! I remember loving the song “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera from the movie Mulan. Just thinking that my song could be someone’s favorite as a kid growing up is crazy! I can’t even wrap my head around it, such a cool thought.

You also released your debut EP, Closure, this year.  When you put together the songs did you envision how you’d like the music videos to look or how you may perform the songs on stage? I did envision what I wanted for the “Cowboy” video. That one was pretty easy for me. But I didn’t know at the time that we were going to get to shoot it on my family’s ranch in California, so that was a great surprise and it turned out even more amazing than I could’ve imagined.

One of our personal favorites is “Cowboy” and we love the video!  Do you have any fun stories from shooting for that one?  Yes, it was so much fun to shoot at home on the ranch and having my dad and family involved was pretty neat. I got to ride my horse Cash in some of the scenes too so that was fun and he got to make his acting debut!

With the year quickly wrapping up do you already have any big plans for 2022 that you can share?
So many plans for 2022! I’m playing the C2C festival in the UK in March. I’ve never been, so that will be pretty cool! Also lots of other shows and festivals in the works as well.
